Animal Science

The Animal Science programme intents to equip students with the necessary integrated and advanced knowledge and skills in Animal Science, Animal production and Management with competences in research and technology development and to give students work integrated training in the practical application of scientific principles to animal production whilst preparing the students for further academic studies.  This will ultimately provide the critical skills personnel with the capability to contribute to the development of animal production sector and the agricultural sector as a whole, in South Africa and the world over.

Admission requirements

To be admitted to either BSc Agriculture programme, candidates must have:

  • NSC or NC(V)
  • APS of 26
  • English: Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 4
  • Physical Science: Level 4

Candidates with matriculation results from foreign educational systems must meet the requirements determined by the Joint Matriculation Board and the SAQA evaluation recommendation, including an APS of 26.
