Our laboratory is equipped with equipment to join, grind, cut and temper conventional quarts glass.  This type of glassblowing is also referred to as Scientific Glassblowing.

What is it?

Scientific Glassblowing is the process of creating glass instruments for use in research and production. 
Scientific Glassblowing differs from the art form in that they work exclusively with borosilicate glass and quartz,
both of which have higher working temperatures than art (or "soft") glass and have the required physical properties
for laboratory applications.

How is it done?

Using a torch/burner, scientific glass blowers heat, shape and seal glass tubing, rod and other pre-formed
components into glass appartus similar to some of the equipment you may have seen in laboratories. 
They are instrumental in creating experiment-specific equipment for research purposes.
