Here we offer a diploma in Crop Science, BSc in Agriculture-Crop Science and postgraduate qualification degrees in Crop Science/Agronomy. Our 4-year undergraduate program includes the following fields of study:
- Agronomy
- Horticulture
- Soil science
- Plant protection
Our experienced academics collaborate with many different stakeholders in the agricultural sector and other higher education and/or research-based institutions within and outside South Africa. The Department is well supported by technical support staff and has adequate research facilities that enable development and graduating students with competencies that equip them to be absorbed into the various sectors agricultural industry. There are a number of ongoing funded research projects in the department. These various research projects are directed at addressing household and national food security challenges under the current climate change and global warming challenges. The projects further provide the platform and additional bursary opportunities through which our students undertake their research projects.

Postgraduate qualificationa in any of our programme streams can also open career opportunities as scientists/researchers or technicians in several international agricultural research organisations.
