Welcome to the Analytical Platform

The Analytical Platform at the Focus Area for Human Metabolomics, North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, Potchefstroom serves as a resource offering analytical and instructional expertise in mass spectrometric analysis. We support a selection of services to the research groups within the Focus Area and the Centre for Human Metabolomics and the University at-large. The aim of the Analytical Platform is to provide scientists with access and support to state-of-the-art instrumentation for their analytical needs.

The platform is located in building F3 (Biochemistry) and comprises of various mass spectrometry systems that provide complementary capabilities for mainly small molecule analysis.

The Analytical Platform has an official collaboration agreement with Agilent Technologies through Agilent’s Partner Laboratory network, the first of its kind in South Africa. As partner laboratory, the main field of expertise is our knowledge of Agilent’s Mass Hunter software, including Acquisition, Qualitative and Quantitative data analysis software and Mass Profiler Professional.
