Dear First Year Student, welcome to the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences!
Executive Dean's word of welcome:
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (FNAS) as a cohort of First Year Students.
Our faculty is one of the largest and most productive ones in the university and has an international standing in many of its disciplines. We are happy to have you as part of the family of our academic community.
I know that in the first few months you will be grappling with information overload but you will certainly be able to decipher all within a reasonably short time. The environment may also be intimidating at first, since the teaching and learning methods are quite different from your past experiences. Do not despair though, your admission to the university is evidence that we have full confidence that you will cope with the rigours of academic work and life. The university has many support systems that are in place to help you settle and to acclimatize e.g. the student chapters, Wellness programmes, tutor systems and importantly help from your peers and Subject Group Leaders.
I welcome you warmly in our midst, be assured that we have your interest, to offer you a good academic experience.
