SAIP 2021 INVITATION TO WORKSHOP FOR PHYSICAL SCIENCES TEACHERS

You are hereby invited to attend the online SAIP 2021 Workshop for Physical Sciences teachers as hosted by the Subject group for Physics at the North-West University and the South African Institute of Physics. The workshop is open to in-service and pre-service Physical Sciences teachers who are interested to make a difference in their classrooms.

PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO 100 PARTICIPANTS - CAPACITY HAS BEEN REACHED

We also encourage you to share on your own ideas and experiences regarding technology enhanced teaching and to learn from one another. Time will be allocated during the workshop for you to prepare, upload and present on what technology you use in your classroom. Prizes will be given to the three best contributions!

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

We would like to invite Natural and Physical Sciences teachers to apply for the SAIP 2021 teacher’s workshop. The topic for the workshop will be around the topic of Technology Enhanced Learning. The workshop is open to Natural and Physical Sciences teachers from Mathematics and Sciences schools who are interested to make a difference in their classrooms. We would like to encourage you to also come and share on what measures you have already taken with regards to Technology Enhanced Learning.

The vision of the Teacher's workshop is to create an opportunity for higher education practitioners, in the proximity of the hosting university to meet and hear from leading experts in the field. A holistic physics content knowledge program for Natural and Physical Sciences teachers is to promote teacher professional development, science literacy and science awareness with the focus on skills for Technology Enhanced Learning needs in the classroom. Unique to the NWU teacher’s workshop is that we like to hear what teaching practices you have or intend to implement for Technology Enhanced Learning.  

The mission of this workshop is to facilitate and equip Natural and Physical Sciences Teachers in the delivery of the physics content from a disciplinary perspective fostering a community of practice by teachers for teachers. This will, in turn, raise learner interest and retention in the sciences with an increase in the mass of learners that are needed in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) sector.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

  • Novice and veteran in-service Natural and Physical Sciences teachers wanting to become more knowledgeable on the topic of the fourth industrial revolution.
  • Teachers who want to teach physics and looking for methods to enhance the classroom experience.
