Registrations closed for selected programmes
The Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences has had to regrettably close registrations for the following programmes for year level 1 for the 2022 academic year:
- BSc in Indigenous Knowledge Systems
- Diploma in Animal Health
- Diploma in Animal Science
- Diploma in Crop Science
- BSc Extended Degree in Information Technology
- BSc Information Technology (Potchefstroom Campus only)
We understand that there are applicants who received communication from the NWU, indicating that they have been accepted in one of the above programs for 2022 based on the minimum requirements. However, in all programs the NWU is subject to an enrolment target, as per agreement with the Department of Higher Education and Training.
From the 21st of January 2022, when online registrations opened, registrations in the above programs have reached the enrolment target set, and therefore the programs have regrettably reached capacity. The NWU subsequently had no alternative but to close further registrations in the above programs.
All accepted applicants in these programmes where informed of the capacity limitations that applied to the programs in the acceptance letter, and via a further SMS. The limited capacity was specifically noted as reason for encouraging applicants to register immediately.
The NWU cannot accommodate the applicants who were not able to register before capacity was reached. These applicants are encouraged to reapply for the 2023 academic year.
